Duke has shown signs of vulnerability:
The blue devils beat Siena in the first round by a mere 6 points. Siena did not make a subsitution for the duration of the entire game. Cameron Boozer did however do his thing with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Against TCU in the second round they trailed by 2 with 16:11 left in the second half before they pulled away. Things will only get harder from here, Duke faces St. Johns in the sweet 16.
Iowa State and Houston are on fire currently:
Iowa State has won their first 2 games against Tennessee State and Kentucky by an average of 26.5 points. Houston has won their first 2 games against Idaho and Texas A&M by an average of 31 points. I dont believe this is because of who they drew or how hot they were coming into the tournament. I believe these two 2 seeds are battle tested from the big 12 and have seen the toughest competition out there this year. it wouldent be a stretch to say these two big 12 powerhouses are gonna meet in the national championship game in Indianapolis come April.
5 Wisconsin vs 12 High Point was one of the best games all weekend:
In the only 12 over 5 win their were plenty of fireworks early on on thursday in Portland. Wisconsin had a 94.2% win probability, up 70-62 with 5:20 left in the game. Just when you thought Nick Boyd and John Blackwell would right the ship, High Point hit 5 3 pointers in the final 5 minutes, 3 of them being from Chase Johnston. Johnston was the hero with a fastbreak layup giving them the 83-82 lead with 11 seconds left. That, followed by a stop at the other end sealed the upset.
St. Johns has a real chance to beat Duke:
The Jonnies hammered Northern Iowa in the first round. Then they had an impressive win vs Kansas that can be missinturpeted due to the final score. They held the lead for the duration of both halves. Zuby Ejiofor should be able to match up well with Cameron Boozer at 6’9 and a solid 245 lbs
Darius Acuff is for real:
If you werent following Arkansas Basketball in the regular season you may not have been informed of his exellence. He lead the SEC in scoring and assists and has continued his offensive greatness in the first 2 rounds of the NCAA tornament, scoring 24 and dropping 7 dimes vs Hawai’i, and following that up with 36 points and 6 assists vs the hot High Point. He has a unique feel for the game when the ball is in his hands, seemingly always making the right play for himself or his teammates.
