After 4 straight days filled with college basketball all day long, the remining 16 teams are set.
Ole Miss was slept on
North Carolina winning this first round game was one of the most common first round upset picks. Ole miss took care of UNC in a game that was comfortably in the hands of Ole Miss until UNC provided a scare down the stretch. In the following game against Iowa State it was close to a wire to wire win for Chris Beards team. If Keshon Gilbert was healthy things could be different but that does not take away from the fact that Ole Miss came ready to play against a team rated high in both offensive and defensive efficiency UNC and Iowa state were both more popular sweet 16 picks than Ole Miss. Sean Pedulla has led the rebels with back to back20 point outings. Ole Miss along with fellow 6 seed BYU will look to do more damage against high pedigree opponents in Alabama and Michigan State.
Duke has been the most dominant team
Duke has beat it’s First 2 opponents by a combined 67 points which only helps improve their profile and should give them a boost in confidence going forward in the tournament. Tyrese Proctor has been their leading scorer and should give their opponents headaches as his play gives opponents another person to worry about along with Flagg. On Sunday Proctor was an absurd 7/8 from behind the arc and finished with 25. With the recent news that Malik Brown could play against Arizona is great news for the blue devils who could use a player like Brown who can guard multiple positions. In the sweet 16 they have a rematch with Arizona who they beat 69-55 on November 22. I think Duke will carry their momentum to Newark and ultimately get to the Final Four.
Kansas’ season was underwhelming
